“I am Set, dog of the desert, master of evil, lord of thunder!”
―Set, from Family Feud: Part 1 - Brother's Keeper.

Set is powerful and dangerous deity, as well as the leader of the Trackers of Souls.

History[]

Pack to the Future[]

Set is summoned by Scarab, alongside the rest of the Trackers of Souls, in order to find and capture Presley Carnovan, and bring him to him. Set and the Trackers of Souls locate Presley in Yosemite, where he is camping with his mother. Set attempts to capture Presley, but Khati interferes, saving his life, allowing him to escape. Set and the Trackers chase after the boy, but then he and his group engage in a fight with the Mummies, who were notified by Khati's amulet. Set fights Nefertina, leading them both to the edge of the cliff, where Nefertina kicks him, causing him to fall. Right before hitting the ground, Set gets teleported back through the Western Gate.

Dog Bites Mummy[]

Set returns with Anubis, to take their revenge on the Mummies for defeating them. During a battle between the Mummies and Scarab, Set and Anubis make their appearance, attempting to stop the Mummies. The Mummies manage to defeat them, before escaping. Set and Anubis start looking for them, but they are being lured away from the Sphinx by the Mummies, who use dog biscuits to grab their attention. Set and Anubis then come across Elaine while looking for Presley and capture her to lure the Mummies to them. The Mummies arrive at a stadium, where Elaine is held hostage. Set and Anubis fight the Mummies, being defeated once again. During the end of the episode, the Mummies throw Set and Anubis off the Golden Gate Bridge, and into the Western Gate.

The Face in the Mirror[]

Set and Anubis return once more, on the day of an alignment of the planets, which only takes place once every 3500 years. They start looking for a magic mirror containing a powerful creature called The Eye Of Darkness. Set and Anubis discover the mirror inside a sunken ship, and take the mirror to a mountain top. The Eye seeks a soul of a Pharaoh so it can exchange itself with that spirit to free itself from the mirror. The Eye finds and uses Presley as a new body for him, taking over his mind and stealing the Skycophagus to arrive at the mountain top, where Set and Anubis will perform a ritual to switch their bodies. The Mummies arrive just in time to stop the ritual, which causes a fight between them, Set and Anubis. The Mummies defeat them, and the enraged Eye grabs Set and Anubis inside the mirror, breaking it in the process.

Family Feud: Part 1 - Brother's Keeper[]

Set and Anubis make their final return in this episode, after being tasked by Scarab to locate the mummy and sarcophagus of his loyal follower Arakh. The group locates the sarcophagus in the museum, but the Mummies are there to stop them from taking the sarcophagus. They engage in a fight, but then retreat, being able to steal only Arakh's mummy. Set and Anubis return to Scarab, and Scarab scolds them for not bringing Arakh's sarcophagus. Set, Anubis and Scarab then revive Arakh, and the group is tasked once again by Scarab to bring Arakh's sarcophagus. During another fight in the museum with the Mummies, Set manages to strike Ja-Kal with a beam from his sceptre, hitting him, destroying his wings. Later on, Ja-Kal fires an arrow at a totem head, behind Set. Set catches the totem head and is defeated after crashing on Anubis, in the middle of firing a beam from his sceptre, sending them back through the Western Gate. It is unknown what happened to him afterwards.

Personality[]

Set is very powerful, evil and has a bad temper. He is very serious in comparison to his associate, Anubis. Set doesn't take lightly to being defeated and will resolve in taking revenge against those who defeated him. Set however is a good leader, leading the Trackers of Souls, and being the head behind many of the plans him and Anubis plan throughout the series. Despite that, his temper usually is an obstacle, leading many times to his defeat.

Powers and Abilities[]

Set is a good fighter, being skilled in both physical and ranged combat, and has great knowledge regarding magic and magical items. He mostly uses his staff to fire energy blasts at his opponents. Set, being a Tracker of Souls, also has an excellent sense of smell, be able to track someone for miles, just through their scent.

Trivia[]

Set in ancient egypt

Set as seen in ancient Egyptian illustrations.

  • Set and Anubis are the only reoccuring villains to have appeared in more than three episodes (Excluding Scarab, Heka and Ammut).
  • Seth Kearsley has said that Set was his favorite character to design for, and wanted to originally name him "Seth", just like his real name.[1]
    • He also confirmed that he was supposed to be more of an evil character than the comic-relief antagonist Set is portrayed as in the show.
  • In ancient Egyptian mythos, Set was the father of Anubis, and they were seen as enemies, not allies.
  • In ancient Egypt, Set was as the god of deserts, storms, disorder, violence, and foreigners.
  • In ancient Egyptian mythology, Set was also seen as a man with the head of an unknown animal called "the Set animal", and not a bulldog.
    • Ancient historians are still not sure what animal "the Set animal" is supposed to represent. Some theories include the composite of an aardvark, a donkey, a jackal, a fennec fox or even a stylized version of a giraffe. However it is possible that the Set animal represents a dog, one of the earliest domesticated breeds found in Egypt, the Saluki.
  • In the Osiris myth, Set is portrayed a usurper to the throne who killed and mutilated his own brother, Osiris. His wife Isis later turned Osiris's body into the first mummy.
